The NewBridge College Public Relations and Communications Programme is ideally suited for:

  • Students who are interested in studying towards a Bachelor of Arts Degree but are not certain what direction to follow.
  • Students who have missed application or registration cut-off dates and are looking to apply and register for the next full academic year.
  • Students who need to upgrade their matric results to meet entrance requirements for a specific university or a specific university programme.

By spending the 1st year of post school completing this NewBridge College Public Relations and Communication Programme you will cover various subject disciplines, focus areas and content in order to make far more informed decisions. During this 1-year programme you will learn to develop crucial skills to succeed in your undergraduate studies and beyond, while gaining the insights you need to make an informed choice about your Degree specialisations.

The year will comprise four separate focus areas.

NewBridge College Fundamentals of Public Relations and Communications

These SETA aligned modules will focus on developing:

  • Writing skills to produce professional business communiques in print and electronic form,
  • An understanding of how to use media to gain publicity for their organisation,
  • Skills to handle consumer queries and complaints and edit, code and capture data,
  • The ability to perform administrative and support duties related to marketing, market research and promotions,
  • Insight into the administrative and support duties related to various types of public relations events and activities, and
  • Skills to work with others as a project team member.

You will develop the skills and knowledge required for strategic communication.  You will learn to manage communication, conduct research, define problems and create meaning through storytelling.

Introduction to Psychology and Communications

These Coursera certified Short Learning Programmes have been curated to ensure that you will gain an insight into both psychology and communications. This will assist in allowing you to get an understanding of what the possible majors in your degree entail and what possible careers these fields would give you access to.

This course will develop the capacity of students to communicate appropriately in different situational and cultural contexts, preparing them for influential leadership.
