The NewBridge College Fundamentals of Intermediate Phase Education Programme is ideally suited for:

  • Students who are interested in studying towards a Bachelor of Education Degree but are not certain what direction to follow.
  • Students who have missed application or registration cut-off dates and are looking to apply and register for the next full academic year.
  • Students who need to upgrade their matric results to meet entrance requirements for a specific university or a specific university programme.

By spending the 1st year of post school completing this NewBridge College Fundamentals of Intermediate Phase Education Programme you will cover various subject disciplines, focus areas and content in order to make far more informed decisions. During this 1-year programme you will develop crucial skills to succeed in your undergraduate studies and beyond, while gaining the insights you need to make an informed choice about your Degree specialisations.

These SETA aligned modules will focus on developing:

  • Programmes of learning,
  • Facilitation of learning,
  • Planning and conducting assessments, and
  • Response to special needs and barriers to learning.

You will learn how to plan and implement learning programmes to enhance the development of children, while identifying the barriers faced by learners and overcoming them to ensure children can work towards achieving the required learning outcomes. These modules are designed to prepare you with the fundamentals required to succeed in your studies and go on to make an impact in education.

  • Teaching-in-Action

Learning different teaching approaches, when to use them and how to innovate is a challenge for all new teachers. One way to solve the problem is to use a collaborative skills-based approach which allows you to practice various individual skills, review the processes through peer feedback and work towards refining and combing them into a highly effective teaching strategy. This module will ensure students are well prepared to tackle the classroom.

Introduction to Teaching, Learning and Technology

These Coursera certified Short Learning Programmes have been curated to ensure that you will gain an insight into teaching and learning and the impact of technology in education.  This will assist in allowing you to get an understanding of the role of a teacher as well as how innovative approaches can impact the world of education.
