Our full-time campus, situated in Musgrave, Durban, ensures that students who enrol with us enjoy a full student life that includes lectures, personal development, and an exciting sport and social programme while they study towards these internationally-recognised NewBridge College National Certificates.

At NewBridge College, you will attend full-time lectures in support of your National Certificates in Generic Management and New Venture Creation which are accredited by Services SETA (Services Sector Education and Training Authority).  These qualifications will be accompanied by the NewBridge College exclusive Professional Development Programme, and relevant Short Learning Programmes offered through innovative learning platforms like edx.org.

Furthermore, as an independent learning platform and environment, NewBridge College curates Short Learning Programmes and non-higher education certifications towards industry and career-aligned programmes and portfolios.

NEWBRIDGE COLLEGE ACCREDITATION SCHEDULE

NewBridge College is provisionally accredited by Services SETA and these qualifications have been registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).

The National Certificate in Generic Management (SAQA ID: 59201) and the National Certificate in New Venture Creation (SAQA ID: 49648) are conferred through NewBridge College and accredited by SAQA.

Assessment of competency is based on evidence submitted in a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE), as well as practical observation. The PoE includes theoretical tasks and evidence of practical tasks done in a workplace environment.

NEWBRIDGE COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

Most overseas countries recognise South African qualifications that are registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and compare them to specific levels within the country’s education system. These NewBridge College qualifications are registered with SAQA.

NATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK (NQF)

The format of all qualifications in South Africa is governed by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Act, 2008, that came into being through the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). SAQA is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of the NQF and provides a standard format in which qualifications may be offered by private and public institutions.

The NQF aims to provide qualifications that enjoy national recognition and, where appropriate, international comparability. It also strives to provide clear learning paths in the qualifications’ structures, and facilitates and supports life-long learning and career advancement.

While the older version of the NQF differentiated between eight levels of qualifications, the reworked NQF now provides for ten different levels of qualifications.

The SETA is mandated to promote and facilitate the delivery of education, training and development in order to enhance the skills profile of the Education, Training and Development (ETD) sector and contribute to the creation of employment opportunities especially for those previously disadvantaged. The Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) is one of the 21 SETAs established under the Skills Development Act (No 97 of 1998) in 2001.

The Services SETA bridges the gap between the formal education and training system and the workplace by facilitating learning programmes that build skills-set required by industries (the world of work). New Venture Creation and Business Advisory occupational qualifications fall under the scope of the Services SETA as do several other qualifications relevant to emerging, small and growing businesses and cooperatives, including business administration, project management, general management, human resources, labour relations, communication and brand management, and sales and marketing. Furthermore, the services sector has many opportunities for entrepreneurial activity.
